Clarence Nelson Jones, Jr.

Clarence Nelson Jones, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 27, 2009, he was 94 years old. Clarence Jones was born April 3, 1915 to Clarence Jones, Sr and Havalock Jones, in Renton WA, he was raised in Kennydale. Clarence attended Issaquah High School and joined the army at the beginning of World War II. He served in the South Pacific arena and was decorated with honors. In 1972 Clarence retired from the Post Office. In his retirement he enjoyed travel and visiting his many friends.Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years Mary Jane Jones, his son Gerald Nelson Jones, his stepdaughter Zella Margo Safadago and his sister Cora Upshaw. He is survived by his daughter Havalock Jones, his grandson Shaka Forest, his niece and nephews, Vannetta Upshaw-Cash, Nick Upshaw and Eugene Cash, and brothers-in-law Joseph Upshaw and David Otis.Memorial services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave. in Renton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, with Pastor Joseph Palmer, Jr. of Koinonia Church officiating. A Reception will be held at Cannon House, 113 23rd Ave. S. in Seattle at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to Union Gospel Mission. The family would like to give a special thanks to Cannon House for their love and support.
