Clarence Victor Hall

Clarence Victor Hall was born November 19, 1918, in Tsinanfu, China to Nettie and Joseph Hall. Clarence grew up with four brothers, Louie, Joey, Spencer and Martz. He attended school in Seattle graduating from Lincoln High School; later he enrolled at Yakima College. Clarence joined the Army in 1940, working primarily in the Field Artillery Brigade; spending time overseas in Africa, France and England. He retired as a Major after 33 years of service to his country. Clarence received a degree in science at The University of Washington and his MBA at the University of Minnesota as a Microbiologist. He worked for The Boeing Company for a year; then for the State Health Department for 30 years. He wrote several service manuals and inspected hospitals; did field work taking various samples of animals and plant life for research. When Clarence lived on Lake Washington he did a lot with his friends Dorothy and Bill Blanchard. Clancy would help to make Christmas bread, decorate Easter Eggs, make liquorish cookies and cannon meatballs at friends Marilyn and Frank McCrum’s home. Clarence married Katherine Elizabeth Ogilvie in 1940. They adopted a boy and a girl in 1954. They loved taking vacations to Yellow Stone National Park, California, Mexico and England. He loved his Dalmatians Ricky, Peppy and Tribby; he inherited Spot a Black Lab from his mother-in-law Minnie Ogilvie. His last love was Mitsee a Teacup Poodle belonging to his daughter. His Interests were many he enjoyed traveling, photography, playing the organ, woodworking, cars, reading, gardening and writing charming stories. He received several awards that included the Tom Drummy Memorial award and Military awards. Clarence passed away December 28, 2010 in Covington at age 92. He was preceded in death by his wife; survived by; son David Hall; daughter Tonya Berg; brother Spencer Hall nephew “Brud” Joseph Hall; cousin Roger Sonnerland and several grandchildren and many many friends. A Memorial service with Military Honors will be held 3:00 pm Friday January 7th at Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton, WA.
