Doug Weiding

Enumclaw resident Doug Weiding, 61, died May 25, 2010 in Tacoma, Washington after a battle with dementia and cancer. He was born August 17, 1948 in Renton, Washington, the youngest of three children born to Arnie and LaMae Weiding. He was preceded in death by his mother LaMae and grandson Jordan. Doug was born into a military family, himself a United States Marine serving his country for two years. While stationed in the Marines in 1968, he married Cheri Tibeau in San Diego and together they had two sons Jim and Steve. He spent many years as a delivery truck driver for Totem Foods, and later purchased the Black Diamond Bakery in 1985. He met Shari Sawyer and together they spent 22 years building their dream business of which he was so proud. He felt no greater reward than the opportunity to serve his customers that were so valued. With the dedication of numerous employees, Doug and Shari spent many years wintering in Palm Springs. There they found many wonderful memories and many lifelong friends. After retiring in 2007, Doug could be found with wife Shari and dog Koko, walking, hiking, golfing, camping, traveling, or cruising in his 1939 Packard he loved so much. His warmth, his sense of humor, and his love for life will be remembered. Words cannot express how much his friends, family, and devoted wife Shari will miss him. Doug is survived by his wife Shari Weiding; Father Arnold, Son Jim and wife Shawna, grandchildren Justin, Dylan and Cameron; Son Steve and his fiancée Jennifer and grandchildren Cody, Kayla and Tyler; three step children, Tony and wife Dene` Kuzaro, Jill and husband Premo Peterson, and step granddaughter Audrey; Jami and husband Adam Balint, His brother Ron Weidling; sister Donna and husband Gary Popovich; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends, also survive him. A Military service celebrating his life will be held on June 4th at 12:30 p.m. at the Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 Southeast 240th Street, Kent, Washington.
