Emmy A. Lindberg

Emmy Alvera Lindberg was born on August 20, 1917 in Black Diamond, WA. Her parents had immigrated from Sweden and her father was a coal miner when she was born. The sister of Wilbur, Medora and Evelyn, the family moved to Kennydale when her father mined at the Newcastle coal mine, and she called Kennydale (Renton) her home for the remainder of her life. She attended grade school at Kennydale Elementary and graduated from Renton High School in 1935. She married Wendell Lindberg in 1939 and they built their home together where they raised six children: Lorraine (Gary) Myers, Marjorie (Robert) Wickham, Donald (Shirley) Lindberg, JoAnn (Robert) Sletner, Michael Lindberg, and Alan (Lauri) Lindberg.Emmy peacefully passed away January 18, 2009. Her beloved husband preceded her in death twenty years ago. She is survived by her children, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She loved her Swedish ancestry, baking chocolate chip cookies and lemon meringue pie, ˜ owers and gardening, going to the Arizona desert, and most of all spending time with her family.A graveside service will be held on January 24, 2009, 1:00 p.m., at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056.Emmy belonged to Vasa and Rebecca Lodges, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, and the Renton Historical Society. In lieu of ˜ owers, donations may be made to the Renton Historical Society, 235 Mill Ave. S., Renton, WA 98055, or a charity of your choice.
