George Allan Poff passed away peacefully on June 22, 2018 at 93 years young. Known by many as Al, he was born November 18, 1924 in Omaha Nebraska.
His greatest loves were his wife, his family and his country. Everyone loved him. At 17 years old he enlisted in the Navy at the outset of World War II. While in the Navy he met and married Lillian, his wife of 67 years. After the war, they moved to Renton and a job at Boeing. Here they raised their family. During his career at Boeing he was a mechanic and supervisor in the glory days of flight test working on the B-52, 707, and 747 flight test programs. He later moved to the defense side working on several missile programs before retiring after 38 years. While retired, he volunteered at the Museum of Flight and the Renton Civic Theatre.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian in 2011 and his granddaughter Debbie in 2014. He is survived by his daughter Becky (Bill), his son Jim (Joy), his grandchildren Jason (Bethany), Riley (Tim), and Josh (Krystal) plus six great grandchildren.
His memorial service will be held Friday July 27th at 10:30 at the Tahoma National Cemetery with an open house following. In lieu of flowers, please make remembrances to the Renton Civic Theater, Seattle Museum of Flight or the Renton Historical Society.
