Harold Eugene (Gene) Sanders, 75, passed away November 9, 2019 with his family by his side in Yakima, WA. He was born Nov 5, 1944 in Alton, IL and was the 3rd son of Richard Sanders and Bertha (Stolze) Sanders. The family moved to Renton in 1945. He graduated from Renton High School in 1964 and joined the Army. Gene and Doris were married in 1968 and raised their two daughters in Renton. He coached soccer for many years and thoroughly enjoyed kids and family activities.
Gene retired from Tradewell/Associated Grocers after 28 years and enjoyed traveling the USA with his wife in their RV.
They moved to Olympia in 2003 and enjoyed several trips until he was diagnosed with Dementia in 2008. In 2017 they moved to Yakima.
He is survived by his wife Doris (Reed) Sanders of 51 years; daughters Dana (Jon) Stillwell of Federal Way and Debi Gregory of Yakima, five granddaughters, one step granddaughter, one step grandson, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers, Ron and Don.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington on Dec. 16, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
