John Edward Strugar, 87, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2018. He was born on November 24, 1930 to Alice Strugar Olson and Eli Strugar in Cle Elum, WA.
He served as a medic during the Korean War before receiving his bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University. He later continued his education at the University of Oregon receiving a master’s in education. He taught middle school and community college before working for the Joint Commission hospital accreditation and the Veterans Health Administration. Upon his retirement he moved to Fort Lauderdale where he lived for twenty years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice Strugar Olson and Eli Strugar, and his siblings Wanda Thompson, Robert Strugar, and George Strugar. He is survived by his sister and her husband, Norma and Bruce Courtmanch, seven nieces, and four nephews.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, March 25 at 1:00pm at the VFW Hall in Renton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
