Laverne (Verne) E. Graves of Renton died on September 16th, 2019, at 97 years of age. Born in Seattle in January of 1922, he grew up in Kent and graduated from Kent High school in 1940.

Verne was in the CCC as a young man, and later joined the Navy during WWII with the 7th Amphibious forces stationed in the Philippines. He was also recalled to active duty for a year and a half during the Korean War.

Verne retired in 1987 after 45 years working as a manufacturing planner with the Boeing Co.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years in April of 2004. He is survived by his sons; William, Michael, Dennis, and Daughter Sonja. He has five-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

At his request no services will be held. Inurnment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way, WA.
