October 14, 1985 – October 22, 2024

On October 22, Maxwell Patrick Taylor passed away shortly after his 39th birthday. He grew up at High Valley in Issaquah and attended Apollo Elementary, Maywood Middle School, Liberty High School, and Bellevue (Community) College.

As a young man he enjoyed surfing, skate boarding and mountain biking. As a fan of the sport, he played on the Liberty Rugby team. He was most passionate about snowboarding, having competed in the 2001 Mt Baker Legendary Banked Slalom and was a snowboarding instructor at Snoqualmie for several years.

Struggling with schizophrenia shortly after his 18th birthday, he still managed to have amazing adventures, travelling to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Atlanta and Boston. After losing touch with his family for over five years, he was relocated to the Seattle area by his brother and father. Though he had contact with various mental health and homeless agencies such as DESC, Catholic Community Services, and King County Mental Health services, he never consented to long-term treatment or offers of housing.

He had lost contact with his family for the last two years when he was brought to UW hospital by police. He passed away shortly afterwards in a warm and supported environment.

He is survived by his mother, Patti Miele of Bremerton, his brother, Yosef Kalinko (formerly Chris Taylor) of Seattle and his father, Gene Taylor, of Clinton, Ct.
