MORRIS (SONNY) EUGENE BATEMAN

Morris (Sonny) Eugene Bateman passed away on October 31st, 2019 comfortably in his home in Sumner, Washington at the age of 84 years old. Morris was born on a farm in Clyde, North Dakota on November 6th, 1934 to Frank & Helen Bateman, the only son of four children.

Morris enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952 and proudly served in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he married his beautiful bride, Jacqueline Mae Hagen, on June 22, 1956.

Morris then began a long and dedicated career as a mechanic. He attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School in North Dakota before moving his family to Seattle in 1961. Morris served a 4-year auto machinist apprenticeship and eventually retired from Metro Transit in 1996.

Morris enjoyed spending time with his family, taking trips with his wife, camping at his lot in Ocean Shores, and of course, working on odd projects.

Morris is survived by Jacqueline Bateman, his wife of 63 years, his sisters; Bonnie Sillers, Francis Downs, and Lois Moe, five children; Steven Bateman (Shar), Greg Bateman (Betty), Jim Bateman, Jay Bateman, and Sherry Bateman-Brekke (Glen), as well as his 11 grand-children and 9 great grand-children.

A celebration of life will be held with his close family and friends on Sunday November 24th, 2019 from 1-4 pm at LeMay – America’s Car Museum, 2702 East D Street, Tacoma.
