April 21, 1936 – August 15, 2023
Myrol Allen “Pat” Sweeney was born on April 21, 1936 and passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023. In 1940, Pat’s family migrated west from Wisconsin and eventually settled in Kirkland, WA in 1948. After serving in the Army from 1954-56, Pat started a print shop in Duvall, WA, a decision that led Pat to embark on a successful 50-year career in the printing industry.
In 1960, Pat went to work at the White Center News where he met Jeanne, who in due time became the light of his life, and inseparable soulmate for 60 years. Pat’s infectious smile, generosity, and respect extended beyond his family.
In 1971, Pat opened the doors to The Renton Printery and working with a devoted team of employees, including his son, Richard, and chief printer, Thep, built The Renton Printery into a respected and successful business still in operation today. Pat sincerely enjoyed being a “hometown” printer, interacting with his customers and serving his Renton community.
Pat was preceded in death by his beloved mother Fern, his daughters Lynda and Cheri. Pat is survived by his wife Jeanne, his siblings and their spouses; Dan (Joan), Dick (Wanda), Kay (Dianne), Linda (Ron), and Myra (James); and children and their spouses; Randolyn (Rick), Patricia (Bill), Lori, Nicholas (Margaret), Amy, Richard (Wendy), and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
