NORMAN LINDSEY ROSS JR.

Mr. Norman Lindsey Ross Jr., of Renton and Ocean Shores, Washington, born on September 18, 1924 in Prineville, Oregon, to the late Nellie Ross and the late Norman Ross, Sr., passed away at age 93 on May 31, 2018 in Port Orchard, Washington. Norman attended Tolt High School in Carnation, Washington. From March, 1943 to December, 1945, Norman served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a member of the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team. Upon returning from war, he worked in the plumbing and heating industry and in 1956 opened Central Plumbing & Heating Co. (later changed to Ross Plumbing & Heating Co.) in Renton, Washington. He closed the shop in approximately 1985. He also worked with various Tribal Nations in Montana developing housing on their reservations. Norman was the beloved husband of Betty for 28 years, who currently resides in Ocean Shores. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Ross and David Hamlin; and sister, Marion Olson. Norman is survived by his children from his prior marriage to Dorothy Ross – sons, Bert Ross (Lynn) and Vern Ross (Sharon) and daughter, Annelle Abernethy (Bob); sister, Nellie Philpott (Earl); grandchildren, Scott Ross (Deana), Steve Franco-Ross (Aaron), Marty Ross (Leah), Carrine Swift (Dave), Katie Philippides (Costa), Matt Abernethy, and Heather Coburn (Charlie); eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He had a passion for camping, hunting, fishing, horseshoes, and canoeing in the canal. The family wishes to thank the Washington Veterans Home-Port Orchard for providing a caring and comfortable home for Norm in the twilight of his life. Our memories of Norm will live forever in our hearts.
