Raymond Albert Stoer, passed away peacefully and suddenly in his Renton, Washington home on December 24, 2016 after a long and fulfilling life. He was a loving and loved man. Raymond was born on March 10, 1930 in Orange New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Frieda Stoer.
Raymond is survived by his children and their families, Kermit Albert Stoer, Kenneth Raymond Stoer, and Melanie Rae Sutherlin. His Grandchildren; Christopher Stoer, Tiana Oliver, Amanda Stoer, Matthew Stoer, Rebecca Sutherlin, Bailey Sutherlin, Kenny Sutherlin, Kyle Sutherlin and two great grandchildren Tatium and Harley Stoer. We will all hold our many happy and irreplaceable memories of him dear to us. His guidance and love will live on in our hearts forever.
His life and career were full of successes and pride. He overcame the obstacles of life with dignity and resilience. He graduated from Kearney High School N.J. in 1948, and after was married. He was drafted to the Army where he enjoyed discovering his love for aviation. Graduating from UCLA as an Engineer led his career to Aerospace and Aviation. His career climaxed with a Diplomatic European Flight Certification assignment. Retiring after 25 years with the FAA at age 65.
In retirement he enjoyed soaring with the Evergreen Soaring Club and stayed in contact with Army and high school friends at reunions. Raymond gave to others. Was active and healthy with a daily fitness center regimen, was social and volunteered. Living in and caring for his own home until his last day, he passed with his and our pride. Raymond was loved by his neighbors past and present as he entered their personal lives through their embrace.
His time with loved ones was important to him and he cherished his relationship with family and friends. His three children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren loved him and were loved by him. Visiting them in their homes across the country throughout the year on holidays was a priority and cherished to him and to us. He honored his Father and Mother having had them memorialized at Ellis Island.
He cared dearly for those in his life with whom he loved and who came to love him. He was a kind man of sentiment and structure. Who was humble enough to show gratitude. Taking the time to tell you he loved you, was proud of you and he was thankful. He was responsible, disciplined and respected in business and personal affairs. He was a strong and proud man and as described by one of his neighbors “Someone who wanted to go with his boots on”. We will all cherish our fondest irreplaceable memories of him.
His remains will be spread from the air over Minden, Nevada.
