“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”– Special Olympics Athlete Oath.At age 45, Terri Lynne Funk passed away on October 21, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. Terri was born June 25, 1963 to Sheila R. Greene and Evan C. Funk in Lubbock, TX. She graduated from Hazen High School in special education in 1984. For years Terri participated in Special Olympics, winning many medals in track and field and bowling events. She also enjoyed activities with friends through the Renton Parks & Recreation program. She attended services regularly at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Renton, and spent weekdays with friends at Eastside Adult Day Services where she enjoyed playing bingo and card sharks. Terri had a passion for raising money for ‘Jerry’s kids’, Seahawks football, Elvis and solving word finds. She will be remembered lovingly for her positive disposition and always thinking happy thoughts.Terri is survived by her mother, Sheila Greene; father, Evan Funk; sister, Sharon Funk; brother, Gary Funk; aunt, Karen Chaney; uncle, Phillip Patterson; and many other loved ones.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church: 3604 NE 10th Ct., Renton. A private burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton. Memorials in Terri’s honor may be made to Special Olympics or to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Renton.
