Vernon Everell Zier
On the morning of July 16th 2011, Vernon Everell Zier peacefully passed away. Vern was born in Walla Walla, Washington June 2, 1926 to Jacob and Marie (Lais) Zier. His brother Delbert Zier was 2 years his senior. He moved with his family at age 3 to Renton, Washington, where he spent the remainder of life. He graduated from Renton High School in 1944, and graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He served his country as a member of the US Army from 1944, receiving Honorable Discharge in 1946. He worked for the US government, Department of the Treasury in the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1981. During the early days of his career, he met the love of his life, May Harriet Eng, marrying her December 7, 1957. He remained by her side until his passing. They adopted their 1 year-old son, Adam Zier, in 1961, followed by their daughter, Eva Zier (Hague) in 1962. Vern had many long-term friends from the IRS, NARFE, bowling, golf, and Lakeridge Lutheran Church. Vern is preceded in death by his son, Adam Zier (1984), his dad, Jacob Zier (1991), his brother, Delbert Zier (1998), his mom, Marie Zier (1999). Vern is survived by his widow May Zier of Renton. He is also survived by his daughter, Eva Hague, son-in-law Jim Hague, and his 3 grandchildren Natalie Hague (age 21), Jimmy Hague (age 19), Davis Hague (18). All of Sun Valley, Idaho, who loved their Gung Gung. Friends and family of Vern know he loved his Lord, his family and his friends. He enjoyed many years of golf, bowling, walking Southcenter Mall with May, singing in the church choir, fast food and his dog Peanut. Funeral Service will be held Saturday July 30th 11am at Greenwood Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Renton. Interment at noon to follow.
