Violet Marie Wales
Violet Marie Wales passed away peacefully on April 18, 2015, in Renton, at the age of 93.
She was born in Barstow, North Dakota, Violet grew up in Seattle’s Rainier Valley and graduated from Franklin High School in 1939. In 1941, she married her high school sweetheart Larry, to whom she was married 57 years until his death in 1998.
Violet and Larry were active at Dunlap Baptist Church in Seattle for most of their lives where Violet sang in the choir and provided flower arrangements from her own garden for church services. She was a skilled seamstress, making beautiful clothes for her daughter for many years, including prom and graduation dresses. Violet loved music and caring for her pets, most recently her dog ‘Peppy’, who she walked daily through her 80’s.
Devoted to her family, Violet loved caring for her 4 grandsons, attending their many ball games, taking them on special excursions, playing ping pong and other games, cooking for and hosting birthday and holiday celebrations. Violet was always ready and willing to help with projects and anything that needed to be done. She will be remembered as loving, helpful, fun and will be missed forever.
Violet is preceded in death by her husband Larry, sisters Betty Jo Boyd and Ethel Mae Fletcher and brother Harry (Bud) Johnson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Carolyn Wales, daughter Christy Wales, grandsons Steve, Jason, Zach and Pat, their wives and 7 great-grand children.
Private services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
