WILLIAM MOSS

Bill was born August 17th, 1929 and passed away peacefully in his home on February 8th after 5 months of battling a brain tumor.

He was born to his parents William G. Moss and Mildred Schafer in Jasonville, Indiana. He attended High School in Alton, Illinois, and graduated from Purdue University with a B.A. degree in engineering.

Following graduation from Purdue, Bill accepted a job offer from the Boeing Company in Seattle. There, he was assigned to the engineering department where he wrote service bulletins and was a field service rep on the B-47.

At that time, he met his blind date and love of his life, Fay Griffin. They were married in 1955 on St. Patrick’s Day.

Bill’s Boeing career was interrupted for service in the US Army. He served in Yuma, Arizona where he ran hot weather testing on military vehicles.

Following his discharge from the Army, Bill returned to Boeing. He headed up the department which produced maintenance engine manuals for all Boeing commercial airplanes. He was the Boeing rep to the Aircraft Industries Association, and at one time was the editor of the Boeing magazine. Bill retired in 1992 after 41 years of service with the Boeing Company.

After his retirement, Bill worked with his brother Jim building and restoring airplanes. Bill loved golf, motorhome travels, camping, fishing, singing and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed volunteering for many years with the Piazza Renton and the Renton Farmers Market.

Bill is survived by his wife Fay, and their four children, Biff, Joe (Donna), Brady, and Shannon Grella (Scott). They have five grandchildren, Twila Hofer (Luke), J.R. Moss, Maggie Brookes (Mitchell), Griffin and Alyssa Grella. They are also blessed with two little great grand girls, Summer and Khloe Hofer.

Bill had two siblings, Jim Moss (deceased) (Judy) and Susan Nash (John).

He was blessed with a family of in-laws, and many loving nieces and nephews from both the Moss and Griffin families.
