Liberty 12, Bellevue 6
Liberty once again proved to be too good for Bellevue, as the Patriots held on to an early lead and won 12-6 Friday.
Liberty (13-3 overall, 12-2 KingCo) remains in first in the KingCo, one game ahead of Mount Si.
John McLeod started and pitched five innings. He earned the win for the Patriots.
Troy Askins went 4-5 at the plate, with a double, an RBI and four runs scored. Troy Colyer went 2-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Liberty has four regular season games left, including an important showdown against Mount Si Monday afternoon.
Hazen beats Evergreen and Tyee over weekend
It was quite a weekend for Hazen, as the Higlanders beat Evergreen and Tyee by a combined score of 15-0.
Hazen (9-4, 9-3) has only lost once since March, a one-run game to Lindbergh April 18. The Highlanders are tied with Kennedy for second place in the Seamount.
Hazen’s Jimmy Schmidt and Nick Sharp combined to beat Evergreen Friday, allowing eight men on base and striking out 13.
Bo Worgan hit a homerun in the game. Kevin Schwab and John Wall each went 2-3.
Saturday’s win against Tyee featured even more excellent pitching. Derek Cline pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out nine batters.
Wall went 3-4 with five RBIs, Schwab went 2-3 with an RBI in the game.
Lindbergh splits weekend games
Lindbergh beat Foster 10-0 Friday, then lost by one run to league-leading Mount Rainier Saturday at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
Jordyn Perry pitched the complete game against Foster for the Eagles (8-4, 8-4). He allowed just two hits and struck out three. Perry went 2-3 with three RBIs at the plate.
Blake Gray went 2-2 with two runs and three steals. Greg Gasperetti went 2-4 with two RBIs. Tommy Kawamura went 1-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Lindbergh led Mount Rainier from the first inning to the fifth, but the Rams scored twice in the sixth to push ahead and win 5-4.
Kyle Swannack pitched seven innings, allowing five runs. Kawamura went 2-3 with two runs. Perry went 2-3 with an RBI. Derrick Hwang went 2-4 with a run and an RBI.
