Boys basketball: Renton clinches Seamount title, Lindbergh and Hazen win

Renton 64, Evergreen 53

Renton put on a late surge to seal a 64-53 win against Evergreen Friday, and a second straight Seamount League title.

The Indians (15-1 overall, 14-0 Seamount) outscored the Wolverines 20-9 in the fourth quarter after finishing the first three periods tied.

Joseph Holifield and Nathan Guy each scored 14 to lead Renton. Adam Chisholm scored 13.

Renton last went undefeated in league play during the 2005-2006 season. The Indians finished 25-2 overall that season, with the only two losses coming in the state tournament.

Renton went 24-4 overall and 13-1 in the Seamount last season to win the league crown.

The Indians have league games against Highline (Tuesday) and Foster (Friday) left to play, but they hold a three-game lead over Mount Rainier in the Seamount.


Lindbergh 57, Foster 48

Lindbergh closed strong in a 57-48 win against Foster Friday.

The Eagles (4-14, 4-11) held Foster to just six first-quarter points, then outscored the Bulldogs 22-16 in the fourth to win.

Dallas Searles led Lindbergh with 20 points. Demarr Ferguson scored 14.


Hazen 65, Highline 60

Hazen won its third game in the past four by beating Highline 65-60 Friday.

The Highlanders (6-13, 6-9) are half a game behind Evergreen and in sixth place in the Seamount.

Caleb Frary led Hazen with 24 points. Chris Garton scored 11.
