The Hazen baseball team started its season with a 10-6 non-league win against Sammamish Monday.
The Highlanders (1-0) fell behind 2-0 in the first inning but scored five runs in the second to take the lead.
The Totems briefly tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Hazen responded with four more runs in the top of the sixth.
Patrick Ward earned the win for Hazen. He pitched 2.2 innings and struck out three, while walking one.
Chadd Garton and John Wall each collected three RBI’s. David Green went 3-4 with an RBI.
