Entering the second year under coach Ken Matthews, the Hazen girls soccer team is looking for make big strides.
“We lost a lot of good seniors last year,” said senior captain Lexi Garvin. “But the freshmen have kind of stepped into those spots so far.”
Matthews said the team’s chances at making the playoffs might improve because of the league’s new 3A/2A split, though he expects to be near the top of the standings anyway.
“Our goal is always to try to be in state,” Matthews said. “We didn’t make it last year, and I’d like to think we can make it this year if things go right.”
