The Lindbergh Eagles this past weekend suffered a 72-58 opening game loss as the team began their season against a strong Peninsula squad, but coach Robert Graham is undaunted.

“There was a lot of good things,” he said of the game. “The only bad thing was we lost.”

Graham said his team outscored the Seahawks in three of the four quarters, but falling behind 27-9 in the third frame put the Eagles in a hole they could not climb out of.

Graham said he was proud that his team only turned the ball over nine times, compared to 21 on the other side, but said his team’s poor shooting led to the loss, as Lindbergh made on 20 of 73 field goals during the game.

Graham also said the Seahawks front court, featuring three players taller than 6-foot-5-inches made it difficult for his team.

Anthony Hill led the way for the Eagles with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Michael Smith added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.

Lindbergh was scheduled to play at Foster tonight, Wednesday, at Evergreen on Friday and at Bear Creek on Saturday.
