Another day, another close loss for the Lindbergh boys basketball team. This time, it was Mount Rainer Jan. 15. The score, 55-52.

After starting the season with five league losses by an average of 22.6 points, the Eagles have turned a corner.

Against three of the league’s top teams, Lindbergh has lost by just 4.33 points per game. Plus, the Eagles picked up an easy 65-41 win against Tyee in the middle of that stretch.

In the Jan. 15 loss to Mount Rainier, Lindbergh led by five points with 50 seconds left.

“That’s just how the game goes,” said Lindbergh coach Chris Weakley. “If we keep fighting, we’ll be there at the end. This is a talented group and it’s all coming together.”

Weakley is in his first year with the Eagles and finally has the team gelling under his system.

“I wouldn’t want to play us in the first round,” he said.

The only question: Is it tool late?

With seven games left, Lindbergh is 1-8 in league play and four games out of the final playoff spot.

“The season is on the line and every game really means something,” Weakley said. “If we drop one more game. we can’t catch them.”

James Keum is leading Lindbergh with 15.4 points per game. Derek Roseboro is averaging 10.8.

Lindbergh played Highline Wednesday night and faces Renton Jan. 27.
