Clare Farnsworth, who long covered the Seahawks for the Seattle PI and now writes for the team directly, said Seattle’s quarterback situation has been “misrepresented” while answering mail in a blog post.
“The situation at quarterback has been misrepresented since the club made the trade to acquire Whitehurst,” he writes. “Hasselbeck remains the starter, and his performance this spring has only cemented that status. He is healthier than he has been in two years and the improvements on the O-line should help insure that remains the case.”
Questions and comments about the team’s quarterback situation starting flying when Seattle acquired Charlie Whitehurst from San Diego in March.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll mentioned to Steve Kelley, of The Seattle Times, that Whitehurst would “compete” in April, which fueled speculation that there was a competition for the starting spot.
After seeing the quarterbacks in OTA’s and mini camp, it seems Farnsworth is very confident Hasselbeck still holds the starter spot.
