Football: Hazen stays close until fourth; Dickson scores three times for Renton in loss

Hazen ran into a hot team in the state tournament play-in round and fell to Mount Si 27-0.

The Highlanders finish the season 7-4. All three of the non-league teams Hazen fell to this year are still alive in the playoffs.

The Wildcats took the lead with a Matthew Bankston four-yard rush in the first half.

Hazen trailed just 14-0 heading into the fourth quarter, but Mount Si increased the deficit with two field goals and an interception return for a score.

Meadowdale 45, Renton 30

Renton couldn’t stop undefeated Meadowdale in the state tournament play-in round and lost 45-20.

The Indians finish the season 6-4.

Meadowdale sprinted out to a 24-0 lead before Renton’s Jaron Dickson score on a three-yard rush in the third quarter.

Dickson scored on another rush in the fourth quarter. He also hit Colton Haley for a 13-yard pass.

Meadowdale piled up 21 fourth-quarter points.
