Lindbergh spoiled Hazen’s homecoming and undefeated league record Friday night as the Eagles rolled to a 35-14 win.
Lindbergh (4-1 overall, 4-0 Seamount) didn’t leave much doubt in the matchup of undefeated Seamount teams and now stands in a tie with Kennedy Catholic for first place in the league.
Hazen (4-2, 4-1) slipped into a tie for second place with Mount Rainier.
The Eagles took the lead when freshman quarterback Matt Stuart connected with Frank Cange on two long touchdown passes (32 and 54 yards) in the second quarter.
Hazen’s James Holland scored on a 17-yard rush to bring the Highlanders within seven points at the half.
Stuart hit Diondre Toms from six yards out in the third quarter before another Holland touchdown rush pulled Hazen to within seven points again, at 21-14. It was as close as the Highlanders would.
Cange returned a kickoff 80 yards and Stuart connected with Bakari Davis in the fourth quarter for his fourth touchdown pass of the game.
