Two Renton football teams could have their league fates determined Friday night as Lindbergh and Liberty head into key matchups.
Lindbergh vs. Kennedy Catholic
The Eagles (5-1 overall, 5-0 Seamount) will take on Kennedy Catholic at Renton Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. The teams are currently tied for first in the league and both sport undefeated league records.
The winner will have the inside track to a Seamount title and the loser will slip into a tie for second if Hazen wins Friday and second place all alone if Hazen loses.
Lindbergh has Tyee and Evergreen left on the schedule after Friday’s game, while Kennedy has Hazen and Mount Rainier.
Kennedy is averaging 35.33 points per game on offense and allowing an average of 10.83 points per game on defense.
Lindbergh’s figures are 21.33 on offense and 16.17 on defense.
Liberty vs. Interlake
The Patriots (6-0, 3-0 KingCo 3A/2A) have rolled through the early part of their season, with only one game that was decided by less than 21 points (Oct. 2 against Juanita). They will visit the Saints of Interlake Friday at 7 p.m.
Liberty is in first in the KingCo, while Interlake looms in third.
Interlake has been impressive in its own right, averaging over 45 points on offense per game. But the Saints do have a weakness: defense. Opposing teams have scored, on average, more than 25 points per game.
Liberty also has a high-powered offense (41 points per game), but the Patriots have a defense to match. Liberty allows just eight points per game and has shutout three teams.
