Renton
Boys
Renton tied with Hazen for 18th with 13 points.
Junior P.J. Benedictus won the 3A state title in the triple jump with a distance of 49 feet, 3/4 inches. Benedictus won by nearly two feet, and had two other jumps (47 feet, 10 inches; 47 feet, 8 inches) that would’ve won the title.
Senior Evan Curry finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.77 seconds. Curry placed 15th in the preliminaries of the 300 hurdles.
Senior Joseph Powell placed 13th in the high jump. Powell jumped a height of 6 feet.
Girls
The Renton girls team placed tied for 23rd, with nine points.
Senior Taylor Williams placed sixth in the 200 finals, with a time of 26.42 seconds.
Junior Amadi Bentley finished third in the 100 hurdles. She ran a time of 15.49 seconds. Bentley placed 10th in the 300 hurdle prelims.
Renton’s 4×200 relay team of Bentley, Alissa Reynolds, Kristin Haag and Williams finished 16th in the prelims.
Liberty
Boys
The Patriots led all local teams, tying for seventh with 28 points.
Senior Eric Bice finished fifth in the 800, with a time of 1:57.93. Bice won his preliminary heat in the event. He also finished 16th in the 1,600.
Sophomore Joshua Gordon placed second in the long jump. He cleared a distance of 22 feet, 2 inches, which was one inch behind first place.
Liberty’s 4×400 relay team of Troy Solly, Devin Bennett, Bice and Gordon finished second in one of the most exciting races of the meet. The Patriots trailed White River by just 0.07 seconds.
Senior Peter Stacy took third in the javelin, with a distance of 175 feet, 5 inches. Stacy also finished seventh in the discus, with a distance of 146 feet, 2 inches.
Junior Devin Bennett placed eighth in the triple jump, jumping a distance of 44 feet, 8 inches.
Sophomore Hamilton Noel finished ninth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12 feet, 6 inches.
Senior Troy Solly finished 16th in the 300-meter hurdles prelims.
Girls
The Liberty girls team tied for 38th, with two points.
Liberty’s 4×200 relay team of Madison Birdsall, Delane Agnew, Elizabeth Ryker and Michaela Chucka placed seventh with a time of 1:47.13.
The Patriot’s 4×400 relay with the same athletes finished 11th in the prelims.
Sophomore Emily Pestl-Dimmitt finished 16th in the high jump, clearing a height of 4 feet, 8 inches.
Hazen
Boys
The Highlanders finished tied with Renton for 18th, with 13 points.
Senior James Holland led the way for Hazen with a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. Holland ran a time of 15.18 seconds, 0.21 behind the overall winner. He also ran in the 300 hurdles, placing 11th in the prelims.
Junior Kyle Martin finished fifth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13 feet, 6 inches.
Hazen’s 4×100 relay team of Holland, Duncan Mackay, Stephen Johnson and Tyler Snow placed seventh in the finals, with a time of 43.88 seconds.
Mackay, a senior, placed eighth in the 100. He ran a time of 11.69 seconds in the finals. Mackay finished 12th in the prelims of the 200.
Girls
Sophomore Airashay Rogers placed 16th in the shot put with a distance of 31-6 3/4.
Hazen’s 4×100 team of Madison Dinger, Starr Williams, Fabiana Stapleton and Rogers dropped the baton during the prelims.
The team had previously broken Seamount League meet and All-City meet records this season, and had the second-best 3A 4×100 time heading into the state meet.
Lindbergh
Boys
Lindbergh tied for 44th with one point.
Senior Trevor Thompson earned all of Lindbergh’s points with an eighth place finish in the 3,200. He ran the even in 9:15.53. Thompson also placed ninth in the 1,600.
Senior David Bowman placed 11th in the long jump, with a distance of 20 feet, 5 inches. He placed 12th in the triple jump.
Senior Derek Roseboro finished 15th in the long jump, clearing a height of 5 feet, 10 inches.
Senior Nate Reitz placed 16th in the prelims of the 800.
Senior Frank Cange finished 15th in the prelims of the 100.
Girls
Sophomore Anna Patti placed 14th in the 3,200, running a time of 11:34.13.
Lindbergh’s 4×200 relay team of Ericka Galindo, Tianna Banfro, Zanisha Colbert and Janala Scott placed 13th in the prelims.
The Eagles’ 4×400 relay team of Galindo, Banfro, Monique Smith and Elise Aylward finished 16th in the prelims.
