Even with a late run the Liberty girls fell short, 65-58 against Mercer Island Friday night.
The Patriots (10-3 overall, 3-2 KingCo 3A/2A) fell into third place in the league with the loss. Mercer Island (9-4, 4-1) moves into a tie with Bellevue (9-4, 4-1) for first.

Liberty trailed by 13 points heading into the final quarter, where the team outscored the Islanders 15-9. Breanne Faehnrich and Corinna Van Hurston each scored 14 points to lead Liberty. Danni Sjolander scored nine points.
Mercer Island’s Jae Shin scored a game-high 17 points. Fourteen of her points came in the third quarter when she hit four three-pointers – five shots overall – in a row to push the Islanders’ lead to 14 points.
Liberty plays next against Interlake (10-3, 2-3) Wednesday night.
Mount Rainier 49, Lindbergh 41
Mount Rainier jetted out to an 18-7 first quarter on the way to a 49-41 win against Lindbergh Friday.
Marcissa McMillan led Lindbergh (6-5, 5-3 Seamount) with 15 points. Brandi Lindsay added 10.
Mount Rainier’s (8-2, 6-1) Marisa Blair led all scorers with 23 points.
Lindbergh remains in third place in the Seamount while Mount Rainier is in second.
Kennedy 66, Hazen 26
Hazen stuck with Kennedy through one quarter, but no longer as the Lancers won 66-26 Friday.
The Highlanders (6-4, 4-3) trailed by two points (11-9) heading into the second quarter but scored just five points to Kennedy’s 35 in the second and third quarters combined.
Brittany Philio led Hazen with 10 points.
Yaz Fuller led Kennedy (10-0, 7-0) with 15 points.
