Girls basketball: Recapping the first week of action

Renton

Renton took a commanding lead, but fell to Tahoma 60-44 in a season-opening, non-league game Dec. 3.

The Indians (0-1) led 18-10 after the first quarter, but Tahoma responded quickly. The Bears led by three at the half.

The teams played an even third quarter, then Tahoma outscored Renton 22-9 in the fourth to pull away.

Tahoma’s Erin McCaslin led all scorers with 26 points. Taylor Williams led Renton with 18 points. Amanda Rogers added 10.

Renton starts league play against Tyee Wednesday night.

Hazen

The Highlanders kicked off the season with a non-league win against Kentridge Dec. 1, then with the start of league play Hazen fell to Kennedy Catholic 82-40 Dec. 4.

Hazen (1-1) got 12 points from Airashay Rogers and seven from Gabrielle Redwine.

Kennedy’s Alli Madison led all scorers with 22 points.

Lindbergh

Lindbergh opened the season with a 66-33 loss to Mount Rainier Dec. 4.

The Eagles (0-1) couldn’t get much going in the first quarter and trailed 26-4 heading into the second. Lindbergh outscored the Rams 13-8 i the second to pull closer but struggled again in the second half.

Emily Graver led Lindbergh with 15 points. Adaje Ellison scored 14.
