The West Central District 3A Championship swim meet was Nov. 7-8.
The Hazen team placed fourth and had a number of standout performances. Lauren Kaufman will be advancing to state in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Kaeli Nurmi will swim at state in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Kaysie Rozsonits will swim in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.
Hazen will also take the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams to state. Other swimmers traveling to state (possibly swimming on relay teams): Kaitlin Nelson, Connie Giang, Emma Chow, Brittany Granger, Olivia Schach, Casey Chandler, Helen Quach, Megan Downs and Molly Harris.
Finals finishers for Hazen at districts:
– Hazen placed third in the 200-yard medley relay (Nurmi, Rozsonits, Nelson and Kaufman).
– Kaufman placed second, Rozsonits placed sixth and Nurmi placed eighth in the 50-yard freestyle.
– Sarah McCormick placed ninth in the dive competition.
– Kaufman won the 100-yard freestyle.
– Hazen placed 11th in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Schach, Chandler, Nelson and Granger).
– Nurmi placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke.
– Rozsonits placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
– Hazen placed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay (Nurmi, Rozsonits, Schach and Kaufman).
Lindbergh came in at 14th place at the district meet.
Finals finishers for Lindbergh at districts:
– Stephanie Jacobsen finished tenth in the 50-yard freestyle.
– Jacobsen placed 12th in the 100-yard freestyle.
– Lindbergh placed tenth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Lauren Sauve, Karlie Pfluger, Jenna Birley and Jacobsen)
– Lindbergh placed 12th in the 400-yard freestyle relay (Jacobsen, Suave, Rachael Leung and Pfluger).
Renton tied for 17th at the district meet.
Finals finisher for Renton at districts:
– Taylor Mattheisen placed ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The state meet is at King County Aquatic Center on Nov. 13-15.
