Hazen picked up their second league win Tuesday, beating intra-district Renton 6-1 at Renton Memorial Stadium. All of Hazen’s goals came in the first half.
Senior forward and season captain Sam Bunnell had two goals and an assist. Senior midfielder and the night’s game captain Devin Sando contributed a goal and an assist and junior mid Ryan Wong had three assists.
Senior forward Ezequiel Ochoa, junior mid Luis Puga, and senior mid Spencer Wilkins scored and sophomore forward Jorman Gonzalez added an assist.
“The team was really passing and working hard for each other in the first half. When they were doing that, we scored six goals in 21 minutes,” said Coach Ken Matthews in an email. “When we went away from that in the second half we scored none.”
Hazen has a big test Friday as the Highline Pirates visit.
“Highline has tons of talent. They’re a physical team. We’ll have to be at our best on Friday. After tonight, we know what to do to be at our best; we’ll need that Friday for 80 minutes,” finished Matthews.
The Man of the Match was Ryan Wong. Ezequiel Ochoa was the Fair Play Award Winner.
Hazen hosts Highline at 6 p.m. Friday at Renton Memorial Stadium.
