Hazen Soccer beat the Highline Pirates 6-1 Tuesday in a non-counting league game.

Seamount League standings and playoff berths are determined by the final seven league games from Oct. 10 through Oct. 31.  During that period each team in the league plays each other in “counting” games.

“Whenever you play a 3A league opponent you want to play well. Offensively our outside crossing game was clicking. Defensively we played well on the back line and in the center which neutralized their strength,” said Head Coach Ken Matthews.

The offense tallied six goals for the second game in a row.  Sophomore forward Erin Zetterberg had two goals, assists to senior Cindy Hanson and senior Korbyn Walls. Junior Brook Swensen and senior Kristina Holm scored to give the Highlanders a 4-0 lead.  Junior Emma Lorrigan and senior Melissa Carney got first half assists.  Highline pulled one back before the half that ended 4-1.

Hanson and Walls got second half goals with Swensen and Zetterberg getting the assists.

“We got good play from a bunch of players tonight.  Highline’s No. 7 (Senior Aimie Inthoulay) has been a pain in every game for the last three seasons.  We don’t play man, but she came up against Prancer (Sophomore Mid Taylor Lenton) most of the time.  Wow, she did a great job,” Matthews said.

Hazen plays Seattle Academy at 3:30 Thursday at Delridge in Seattle.
