Hazen softball falls to Lincoln

Sofia Ayala-Cordova was the best Highlander at the plate against Lincoln, going 2-3 (3B, RBI, 2 R).

Hazen High School fastpitch fell 20-7 against Lincoln High School in Tacoma on April 10.

The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, then Lincoln took a 9-1 lead after two innings.

Hazen cut the lead to 9-3, before the Abes went off in the third and fourth innings for 11 total runs over those two frames.

Hazen did get four runs in the fifth inning. But they needed four more runs to keep playing and couldn’t mount a comeback to keep the game alive.

The Highlanders now sit with a 5-4 record and are fighting for a playoff spot with 10 games remaining.

Sofia Ayala-Cordova was the best Highlander at the plate against Lincoln, going 2-3 (3B, RBI, 2 R). Natalie Grossnickle was the only Hazen batter to drive in multiple runners with a base hit scoring two runs in the fifth inning.
