Alicia Nguyen’s 18 kills and 27 digs led the way for the Hazen volleyball team on Tuesday as the Highlanders beat Decatur 3-1.
Hazen won the opening match 25-21, but dropped the second 22-25. The Highlanders stayed strong though and pushed through to a 25-12 win in the third and a 25-19 win in the fourth to bring home the victory.
Along with Nguyen, who also added 2 aces to her total, Olivia Chapman helped lead Hazen with her 24 digs, 4 aces and 2 assists. Kayla Swain added 21 assists, 10 digs and 7 aces of her own.
Anna McCallum also contributed 18 digs, 3 aces and a block in the win.
Hazen moves to 3-3 overall this season. They were scheduled to host Federal Way on Thursday and play in the Reach the Peak tournament at Glacier Peak on Saturday. They open league play Tuesday against Kentlake.
