Hazen’s Jake Kolterman dominates Kennedy with one-hit shutout | Baseball, softball roundup

Hazen's Jake Kolterman never gave Kennedy Catholic a chance. The sophomore pitched a complete game, one-hitter as the Highlanders won 12-0 Thursday. Kolterman struck out 12 batters and walked two for Hazen (1-2). Kennedy's only hit came with one out in the seventh inning.

Hazen’s Jake Kolterman never gave Kennedy Catholic a chance. The sophomore pitched a complete game, one-hitter as the Highlanders won 12-0 Thursday.

Kolterman struck out 12 batters and walked two for Hazen (1-2). Kennedy’s only hit came with one out in the seventh inning.

Hazen scored in every inning but the sixth. Zac Kolterman went 2-3 with an RBI double and two runs. Sam Cook went 2-3 with two runs. Eric Jacobs went 2-4 with an RBI single. David Hughes went 2-4 with an RBI single.

Softball

Liberty 20, Mercer Island 10

The Patriots (1-1) trailed 4-3 after the first inning, but scored 17 runs in the next three innings. Ana Faoro and Liza Van Kamp each had three hits. Joshlynn Wolff earned the win on the mound.

Kennedy Catholic 18, Hazen 3

Hazen (0-2) scored all three of its runs in the first, but soon fell behind when Kennedy scored seven in the second. Jaonna Penner had two RBI for Hazen. Kristina Holm took the loss for the Highlanders.
