Highlanders blast Tyee in final tune-up before postseason

Hazen finishes second in the Seamount League and will advance to the postseason as the No. 2 seed

Six different players scored Thursday night as the Hazen Highlander bested Tyee 6-0 in their final tune-up before the postseason begins on Tuesday.

Taylor Lenton and Madison Kem each had a goal and two assists and Amy Warmenhoven and Madison each had a goal and an assist. Allison Sargent and Meagan Kelly also each got a goal.

The win comes following a tough loss to Kennedy on Tuesday that handed the league title to the Lancers.

“We’ve come out of the last two games a little banged up,” Coach Ken Mathews said in an email. “Tonight, the girls had a chance to be a little relaxed, have some fun and pick up a win.”

The win gives Hazen a final season record of 9-4-3 with a league record of 5-1-1. Both the loss and the draw came at the hands (or feet) of Kennedy.

Hazen finishes second in the Seamount League and will advance to the postseason as the No. 2 seed. They will play Enumclaw, the South Puget Sound League’s No. 4 seed, on Tuesday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
