The Lindbergh volleyball team headed to Evergreen on Thursday in a battle of two of the top teams in the Seamount League, but after a hard-fought match the Eagles fell 5-2.
Lindbergh won a tight first set 26-26, but Evergreen rallied for a 25-18 victory in the second set.
Lindbergh took control in the third set, winning 25-16, but again Evergreen fought back to take the fourth for a 27-25 win to set up a fifth, tie-breaker set.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, Evergreen topped them 15-11 in the final set for the match victory.
Aajua Brooks led the Eagles in the defeat with 16 kills 2 aces and 7 digs. Connie Tua added 11 kills 4 blocks and 14 digs while Ashley Peterson-Laukala had 10 kills. Lina Boyko had 3 kills and 5 aces of her own and Lauren Martinez had 38 assists in the match.
Lindbergh falls to 7-5 overall, 7-3 in the Seamount and presently sits in third place in the rankings.
The Eagles play Kennedy on Tuesday at Lindbergh High School.
