The Liberty Patriots boys basketball team saw their season come to an end on Saturday following a 57-51 loss to the Lynden Lions in a first-round regional game at Renton High School.
Lynden went out fast, pulling ahead and then holding a lead of about 10 points until but Liberty rode a furious second-quarter rally to pull the game within 3 at halftime, 28-25.
Both teams came out shooting cold after the break, but Lynden was able to find their rhythm first and began to work their lead back up.
But the Patriots refused to give up and continued to make up ground in the final frame until a Lynden 3-pointer with about 1:30 left in the game gave the Lions a 55-47 lead and finally seemed to put the game out of reach.
No statistics were available from the game.
Liberty finished the season 13-12 overall.
