The Liberty softball team rode an 8-run first inning to 15-4, five-inning game at Mercer Island on Thursday.
Of Liberty’s 15 runs, only 5 were earned, though the Patriots racked up 17 hits. None of Liberty’s first-inning runs were earned because of an error that should have ended it before any Patriots crossed the plate.
Hannah McMullin led the way for the Patriots, going 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and 4 RBI. Jayme Shaw and Madi Oliver each also went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI each.
Pitcher Sydney Hopper picked up her sixth win of the season, giving up 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 6 in three innings on the mound. Hopper also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of triples and 1 RBI.
Liberty is now 6-0 and a perfect 5-0 in the KingCo conference.
