The Lindbergh girls cross country wrapped up a great season with a fourth-place finish in the state meet this past Saturday in Pasco.
The boys team finished sixth.
According to coach Jef Rettman, this season marks their sixth year in a row as league champs, and this is the fourth time in the last five years that the girls have placed sixth or higher at State.
Leading the way for the girls were a pair of freshman runners. Lauren Wick was the top finisher for the Eagles, coming in 14th place with a time of 19:33.16. Feven Fesse Hatzion finished next for the Eagles, in 27th place with a time of 19:54.93.
Renton’s top girls finisher was Joy Barnes, in 22nd, with a time of 19:47.89.
Burligton-Edison’s RaynJoy Norton won the race with a time of 17:58.16.
In the boys race, the top finisher for Lindbergh was Endalkachew Abebaw, in sixth place with a time of 15:55.19. Finishing next for the Eagles was Colton Maddy, in 19th place with a time of 16:21.73.
Abebaw and Maddy finished 1-2 in the district meet Nov. 2.
This is the ninth year in a row that the boys team has competed at state. They have been sixth place or higher in six of these years, including a team title at state in 2011.
Renton’s top boys finisher was Hameed Maktoof in 48th place with a time of 16:45.58.
Devon Grove of Lake Washington won the meet with a time of 15:29.77.
