Lindbergh knocks off Hazen with big first inning; Liberty, Renton lose | Baseball

The Lindbergh baseball team struck early and often Monday, and knocked off league-leading Hazen 7-3.

The Eagles (4-2 overall, 4-1 Seamount) are now tied with Kennedy Catholic for second place. It was the first league loss of the season for the Highlanders (7-2, 7-1) who remain in first place.

Lindbergh scored five runs in the first inning, then added another in the second when Cameron Callen cleared the left field fence with a homer in the second inning. Callen went 2-4 with two runs, an RBI and a home run in the game.

Hazen scored twice in the bottom of the second on extra base hits by Cody Moorhead and Jimmy Schmidt, then a single by Alex Gayte.

The Highlanders scored once more when Jeff Beckman came in on a sacrifice fly by Schmidt in the third. Lindbergh added another run in the top of the sixth inning.

Matt Stuart pitched a complete game for Lindbergh. He allowed five hits, three walks and struck out six. Stuart went 2-3 with two RBIs and a run at the plate.

Tyler Gould also had two RBIs for Lindbergh.

Schmidt also pitched a complete game for Hazen. He gave up seven hits, no walks and struck out four.

 

Highline 10, Renton 2

Renton fell to Highline 10-2 Monday.

The Indians (1-7, 1-6) answered Highline’s four first-inning runs with two scores in the bottom of the first, but couldn’t get any closer.

The Pirates scored in every inning but one.

 

Mount Si 11, Liberty 0

Mount Si shut out Liberty 11-0 Monday.

The Patriots (3-5, 1-2 KingCo 3A/2A) fell behind 7-0 after two innings and never recovered. Blake Reeve took the loss on the mound for Liberty.
