Lindbergh, Liberty pick up close wins; Hazen can’t hang on in fourth quarter | Boys basketball

The Lindbergh boys basketball team held on to beat Renton 60-57 Friday night. The Eagles (3-1 overall, 1-1 Seamount) led by eight at the half, but Renton (1-2, 1-1) went on a 17-9 run in the third to tie the game. Lindbergh edged Renton 20-17 in the fourth quarter.

Colin Malone led Lindbergh with 18 points. Jimmy Keum scored 15. Nate Cunningham added 11.

Jonathan Patterson scored 19 for Renton. Justin Pienh added 12.

Hazen

Hazen succumbed to a late Kennedy Catholic run and lost 61-44 Friday night.

The Highlanders (2-2, 1-1) entered the fourth quarter in  a 41-41 game, but Kennedy outscored them 20-3 in the period.

Dawit Kasa scored 17 for Hazen. Alex Olson added 16.

Liberty

Liberty got 25 points from Tynan Gilmore and beat Juanita 64-63 Friday night.

The Patriots (2-2, 1-1 KingCo 3A/2A) trailed by three points going into the fourth quarter of the tight contest. Cory Dukelow and Robbie Thomas each added 10 points for Liberty.
