Lindbergh runs away from Kingston late, moves on to state | Football

Lindbergh ran away from Kington in the second half to win 41-20 and advance to the 2A state football tournament.

The Eagles (7-2) play Anacortes Friday at 7 p.m. at Renton Stadium.

Against Kingston, Lindbergh went down early when Lou Hecker scored from 67 yards out on the first play of Kingston’s first drive.

The Eagles answered on their first drive with a four-yard rushing touchdown from Bakari Davis.

After another touchdown run (from seven yards) from Davis in the second quarter, Lindbergh entered the half leading 14-13.

The Eagles padded their lead with field goals from 29 and 33 yards from Derrick Holt in the third quarter.

Kingston tied the game at 20-20 with a touchdown pass with just under nine minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Isiah Corwin rushed in for an 18-yard score to put Lindbergh up 27-0. Diondre Toms intercepted a pass on Kingston’s next drive to end any threat by the Buccaneers.

Davis added rushing scores from 23 yards and five yards out. He scored four touchdowns in the game and now has 25 touchdowns on the season.
