After beating Renton 13-3 Tuesday, much was still up in the air for the Lindbergh baseball team heading into a Wednesday doubleheader.
The Eagles (12-2 overall, 11-1 Seamount) would win their first Seamount title since 1999, the year before Benny Benavides took over as head coach, with a sweep of Kennedy Catholic in the Wednesday games.
With a split, Lindbergh and Hazen would share the league title. If Lindbergh lost both games, the Eagles would drop into a tie with the Lancers for second place. As far as playoff seeding, Lindbergh has already locked up the league’s top 2A seed.
The win against Renton was Lindbergh’s 10th straight victory. The Eagles’ lone league loss came March 18 to Hazen.
Lindbergh led 13-3 through four innings and held on as Renton threatened on the fifth for the shortened-game victory.
Ryan White went 3-3 with two runs and a steal. Cameron Callen went 3-5 with three RBI, two runs and two steals. Billy Hernandez went 3-4 with two RBI and a run. Brett Love pitched the complete game and struck out six.
Liberty gets hot, in playoff picture
Liberty won its third straight league game, 3-2 over league leader Mount Si Tuesday.
The Patriots (7-9, 4-8 KingCo 3A/2A) handed Mount Si its first league loss of the season. Liberty led 2-0 until Mount Si tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. The Patriots scored a run in the top of the sixth to win.
Izak Styskal earned the win with two innings in relief. He allowed two hits and no runs.
