And it is official: Lindbergh’s Andrew Franco-Munoz is an iron man.

Franco-Munoz on Thursday swam a state-qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke and has officially qualified for every individual event at the state meet this year, including all four strokes at varying distances.

Known as the “iron man,” the feat shows a versatility in the pool that most swimmers do not have.

Franco-Munoz, 18, has been swimming since he was 8 years old. He is primarily a butterfly and freestyle sprinter and is only the second Lindbergh swimmer to accomplish the iron man in Coach Roger Miron’s 19 years with the team.

Lindbergh’s 200-yard medley relay team on Thursday, which features Franco-Munoz in the butterfly leg, also broke the school record in the event by 1.5 seconds during a 103-83 victory over Kennedy. The record has stood since 1996.
