Lindbergh’s Sarah Reiter ran the best 5,000-meter time of her career Saturday at the Nike Pre-Nationals meet in Portland.
Reiter took second in the girls Jim Danner division and finished with a time of 18 minutes, 0.79 seconds.
The meet featured many of the region’s best cross-country teams. Races were broken down into six levels of competition on the girls side and seven on the boys. The Danner division is the highest, then Division 1 varsity and Division 2 varsity, then junior varsity races.
Reiter finished second to Molly Grabill of Rancho Bernardo (Calif.). Reiter completed the race nearly 37 seconds ahead of the third-place runner.
Jasmine Fallgreen finished 118th in the Jim Danner division for the Eagles.
Brenna Fisher placed 125th in the Division 1 varsity race, followed by Elizabeth Hansen in 133rd and Monique Smith in 155th.
Lindbergh’s top boys finisher was Nathan Haley. Haley ran a time of 16:57.95 and placed 88th in the Jim Danner division. Nate Tandecki was close behind at 89th with a time of 16:58.61.
Other Jim Danner finishers: Mark Garcia (101), Luke Garcia (107), Travis Downen (119), Alex Nelson (128) and Mohamud Abdi (180).
Sophomore Ben Platt took 10th in the Junior/Senior Junior Varsity race with a time of 17:43.33. Behind Platt were Mitchell Hughey (42), Peter Han (59), Matt Nelson (71), Brett Love (73), Eugene Pioquinto (86), Grant Haley (130) and Omelyan Strembitskyy (140).
