Lindbergh junior Sarah Reiter capped off an impressive season by winning the 2A cross-country state title Saturday.
The Lindbergh boys team, led by Mark and Luke Garcia, also had a banner day. The Eagles finished second, the best finish in Lindbergh history.
Reiter dominated the title race, with a time of 18 minutes, 2.8 seconds. She beat the second place runner – Marina Roberts – by nearly 24 seconds. Roberts had beat Reiter just the week before at districts.
Reiter ran times of 18:30 or better in every 5,000-meter race this season. Only two 2A runners (Reiter and Roberts) ran times under 18:30 all season long.
Reiter finished 14th at the 3A state meet last year.
Led by Reiter, the girls team placed sixth at the meet. Anna Patti placed sixth. Jasmine Falgreen (37th), Ariel Hodges (90th), Elizabeth Hansen (105th), Mercedes Tischer (116th) and Brenna Fisher (133rd) rounded out the team.
Luke Garcia led Lindbergh in 14th with a time of 16:16.9. Mark placed 16th and finished at 16:20. Nathan Haley (28th), Nate Tandecki (37th), Mohamud Abdi (43rd), Alex Nelson (58th) and Travis Downen (85th) rounded out the Lindbergh boys team.
Renton sophomore Brian Reilly placed 123rd overall in the boys race. Freshman Joy Barnes led the Indians by placing 43rd in the girls race.
