Undefeated Isaac Tadeo will face hard-hitting Cameron Sevilla-Rivera in the semi-main event at Brain Halquist Productions’ Battle at the Boat 103 on Saturday at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma.
Tadeo, who trains at Renton’s Azteca Boxing Club, brings an unblemished record of 5-0-0 with 3 knockouts into the bout.
Tadeo made his professional debut at the Emerald Queen Casino on March 31, 2012 by defeating Jesse Uhde by third-round TKO. As an amateur Tadeo won four Junior Golden Gloves Championships, three Senior Golden Gloves Championships and was a sparring partner for former World light middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.
Sevilla-Rivera, a resident of Fife, brings in an equally impressive career mark into the contest, sporting a record of 6-1-1 with 5 KOs. Local fight fans should be very familiar with Sevilla-Rivera’s power as the 23 year old scored a victory in his pro debut at the EQC on Nov. 2, 2013 by first-round knockout. Three more first-round KOs followed.
“This is what a semi-main event should be. You have two young, hungry fighters looking to take the next step,” said promoter Brian Halquist in a press release. “This is going to be a very thrilling fight.”
The World Boxing Association-NABA United States super middleweight championship will be on the line at Battle at the Boat 103 when Tacoma’s Mike Gavronski (20-1-1, 12 KOs) squares off against Dashon Johnson (17-19-3, 5 KOs) in the main event.
The title fight will be a rematch for the two super middleweights as they went the full 10 rounds in a thrilling bout on Jan. 9 with Gavronski winning by unanimous decision, appearing as the 98-91, 98-91, 95-94 winner on the judge’s scorecards.
“Both of these guys leave everything they have in the ring when they fight,” Halquist said. “They will battle. That was certainly the case when they fought the first time. Both landed huge punches in an action-fueled bout. We expect the sequel to be even better.”
Tickets are available through the EQC box office and all Ticket Master Outlets. Doors open at 6 p.m. with preliminary bouts starting at 7 p.m.
