McKnight Middle School student and rhythmic gymnast Ashley Cheuk won the Level 7 Junior Olympic Regional Championship and was named the 2010-2011 Athlete of the year.

The 11-year-old also earned a spot on the Junior Olympic National team for the fourth straight year.

In rhythmic gymnastics, competitors perform with rope, hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon or free (no apparatus). The sport combines ballet, gymnastics and dance.

Cheuk is currently competing in nationals through June 12, which will be her last meet of the season.
